COLOMBO: Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi completed his 300 wickets in One-day Internationals when he scalped his Sri Lankan counterpart Kumar Sangakarra during their World Cup clash here at the R premadasa Stadium on Saturday.

Afridi, who picked up a five-wicket haul in Pakistan’s opening match against Kenya in Hambantota, was once again in his element as he took the key wickets of opener Tillakaratne Dilshan and Thilan Samareweera before getting rid of Sangakkara, Sri Lanka’s top scorer.

The flamboyant allrounder reached this major milestone following 314 ODI appearances. He has also scored 6606 runs in one-dayers. He has now became the second player after Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya to reach the milestone of 6000 runs and 300 wickets in ODIs.
