Netherlands chose to bat on a Feroz Shah Kotla track expected to have plenty of runs against an Indian side looking to become the first team to confirm their place in the quarter-finals.
India made one surprising change to their line-up, bringing back Ashish Nehra for Munaf Patel, deciding against giving their injury-prone spearhead Zaheer Khan a rest. They also persisted with legspinner Piyush Chawla, who had such an awful game against Ireland that he was booed by the Bangalore crowd, and kept offspinner R Ashwin on the bench.
Netherlands made a couple of changes to their XI, which was thrashed by South Africa, bringing in batsman Eric Szwarczynski and Bradley Kruger, leaving out Berend Westdijk and Bernard Loots.
